Merl Wortham, 90, of Searcy, passed away February 14, 2020 at Community Compassion Center in Searcy. He was born March 23, 1929 at Joy to the late Orbe and Nettie Peters Wortham.
Merl worked at Whitaker’s Furniture Store in Searcy building tables and later wholesaled cars for many years. In his younger years, he enjoyed rodeo. He loved watching The Price is Right and The Wheel of Fortune, particularly to see Vanna White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle and Rodger Wortham and two sisters, Fayrene Allen and Judy McNeal.
He is survived by three daughters, Jowanda Wortham Holden (Steven), Jackie Wortham Murray (Tony) and Janet Wortham Duchamp (Don) all of Searcy; one son, Jeffrey Lee Wortham of Searcy; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Achel Wortham of Judsonia, Dale Wortham (Ann) of Searcy, Danny Jewel Wortham (Carolyn) of Pangburn, and Curtis Lee Wortham (Cindy) of Hot Springs; three sisters, Pat Williams of Quitman, Dolly Dimple Powell of Greenbriar, and Irene Terry (James) of Searcy; as well as many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Sullivan Funeral Care with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel. A private burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery at Joy.
