Hershel Hooks Obituary

Hershel Wayne Hooks, 80, of Searcy went to be with the Lord July 31, 2020. He was born August 17, 1939 at Prescott to the late Doyle and Katherine Patterson Hooks.
Mr. Hooks received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree at Henderson State College and furthered his education at the University of Arkansas receiving an Educational Specialist Degree. He served as Superintendent in several regional school districts. Upon retirement, after 43 years in education, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Hershel was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
Hershel is survived by his wife, Shirley Hooks; his son Anthony Hooks (Judy) of Monticello; his daughter Tinka Henderson (Blake) of Searcy; grandchildren Jessi Clark, Levi Simmons, and Devin Simmons; six great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
