Helen Sloan Obituary

Helen Ruth (Martin) Sloan 80 of West Point passed away on March 10, 2023 at Unity Health in Searcy, AR. She was born on November 6,1942 in West Point to the late Arvil Lee and Dema Mae (Hurn) Martin. She married the late Daniel “Bud” Sloan on June 26, 1964 at Tyler, TX. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons Melton Sloan(Marsha) of Hoxie and Dr. Tony Sloan (Valerie Ann) of Jonesboro; two daughters Theresa Sloan (Marlo) of Marianna and Jennifer Hester (Marty) of West Point; two sisters Wanda DeJesus and Mary Rixie. seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers: Freeman, Sam, Dick, Woodrow, Lindon, Jerry,  and Sonny Martin, four sisters: Johnny Duke, Notra McGhee, Mary Juanita and Shirley Ann Martin. She had a strong faith in God. She enjoyed daily talks with her sisters, playing with her grandchildren, watching TV, especially “The Golden Girls,” reading and Facebook.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at Highway Church of Christ in Judsonia.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Highway Church of Christ in Judsonia. Interment to follow in West Point Cemetery.
