Edward “Leon” Baker, age 88, of Buchanan, Michigan passed away on September 2, 2023. He was born October 29, 1934, in Lepanto, Arkansas to the late Buster “Brown” Thomas Baker and Cora Larkins Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Carolyn Sue Heathscott-Baker and his spouse of 16 years Benetta J. He served in the United States Navy. Leon retired from Bendix (Allied Signal) as a foundry machine repairman in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was a loving, honorable patriarch, protector, jokester, artist, and storyteller. He loved music, and was a self-taught guitar player, he loved to entertain. Once he got a hold of the microphone you knew no one else was getting it. He could also fix anything with a pocketknife. His list of attributes were numerous, but most of all he was loved and admired by all he met. He left us all with his stories and fantastic memories. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving children, Becky Rees and her husband Blake, Michael Leon Baker, Kathy Baumann and her husband Joe, Beverly Cook and her husband Bill; step-daughter Vicki Pickens and her husband Dan; siblings, Thomas Baker and his wife Diane, Ruthie Moore, Sally May, Mary Johnson, Janie Baker and Peggy Baker; grandchildren, Amy Mansfield and her husband Joe, Heather Donner and her husband Tim, Robby Baker and his wife Sarah, Timothy Krugh and his wife Lindsay, Michael Krugh and his wife Amy, Joshua Baker, Carrie Bishop and her husband Robert, Kristen Cook, Andrew Cook and his wife Megan, Joey Baumann and his wife Liz, Jacob Baumann and his wife Amanda, and Christian Baker; seven step-grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 24 step-great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
