Betty Patterson

August 20, 1933 ~ March 17, 2022 (age 88)

Obituary

Betty was the beloved daughter of William Roy and Nona Mae Kidd. She had two brothers, Leroy and James, both deceased. She was born near McCleland Arkansas to a hardworking and loving family. Her Dad was a man of many talents that was involved in farming and commercial fishing. Her Mother was a devout Christian and farm worker as well as a faithful church worker and family care giver during her fruitful years of raising a family.

Betty grew up in Georgetown. She attended elementary school in Georgetown, and middle/high school in West Point.

Betty benefited greatly from a Christian Mother that often-read bible devotions and took her family to church regularly. Betty became a Christian when just a schoolgirl and became very inspired and motivated to do Christian work when   receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost during a town revival in 1945. Betty felt very close to God after this experience and very sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Lord worked mightily through Betty as she witnessed many miracles, healings, and salvation to a number of people with great and urgent personal needs. She was a witness to the power and glory of the risen Lord and       Savior Jesus Christ, in the church, the family, at work, and amongst all kinds of people and neighbors.

After Betty married, she and James moved to different locations due to work which included Illinois, Arkansas, Alabama, Missouri, Texas, and Louisiana. They met a lot of wonderful people along the way through Church, many of which became lifelong friends. Eventually, Betty and James returned to Georgetown, Arkansas for their retirement.

Betty enjoyed the love and fellowship of a small town and a spirit-filled church ,and talked often about her childhood memories from a small farming community.

In her last chapter of life, she once again experienced that love and fellowship with all the wonderful visitation and outreach from friends, family, and the Church, that reminded her of the close-knit community that she loved from her childhood.

Betty went to Glory to meet the Lord as her family surrounded her with prayers, scriptures, and her final two hymnals: “Iʼll Fly Away” and “When the Redeemed Come Traveling In”. She is in Heaven now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise God Almighty!

Visitation is 1 until 2pm Monday, March 21, 2022 in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will privately occur at Georgetown Cemetery.
