Anita Rodriguez Zun̄iga

Anita Rodriguez Zun̄iga, 86, of Judsonia, formally of Jerecuaro, Mexico, lost her battle with breast cancer October 11, 2020.  She was born to the late Hipolito Rodriguez and Marta Zuniga October 28, 1933 at Jerecuaro, Mexico.
     Along with her parents, Anita was preceded in death by six siblings; may they all rest in peace.
     Anita was a beloved mother and abuela.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her heart was full of love and protection for those she cherished.  The grandchildren remember a time she chased a snake away from them because they were scared. She was also a wonderful cook and taught her family her recipes.  Anita loved to travel between her home in Mexico and her daughters’ home in Judsonia.  It was important to her to come cook for her family and anyone else who had an empty stomach.  Food was her love language.  Anita was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Searcy.  She delighted in attending services, reading her Bible, and studying Catholicism.  She was the monarch of the family and lead them in their faith as well. 
     She is survived by daughters, Rosa Maria Galan (Luis Galan) of Ft. Valley, Georgia and Sonia Perez (Antonio Perez) of Judsonia; granddaughters, Jennifer, Marisol, and Vanessa Perez; grandsons, Antonio and Pedro Perez, Luis Antonio, Chayan, Andres, Roman and Rene Galan; and many other friends and family who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Sullivan Memorial Chapel.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church; interment to follow at White County Memorial Gardens.
