Waylon Darryl Heathscott Sr.

Waylon Heathscott Sr., 77, of Kensett, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Unity Health.  He was born August 30, 1940 at Georgetown to the late John and Wilma Self Heathscott.
     He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Searcy and a graduate of West Point High School.  After serving 4 years in the US Navy, he attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) where he received his BA, going on to receive his MA at ASU – Jonesboro.  He was a regional manager for Firestone Tire then opening up Heathscott & Sons Tire in Kensett.  He then entered a political career serving as Justice of Peace for several years, going on to serve as White County Judge for 5 ½ years; lastly serving at White County Treasurer for 12 years.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Baker; and brother, Wayne “Bub” Heathscott.
     He married Elaine Lambert Heathscott December 29, 1962 at Bozrah, Connecticut; she survives. He is also survived by four sons, Darryl Heathscott (Amy) of Conway, LTC Craig “Steve” Heathscott (Cheri) of Searcy, LTC Chris Heathscott of Sherwood, and Jason Heathscott (Brittany) of Hernando, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Dylan, Clayton, Micah, Mackenzie, Parker, Ashley, and Elias; one great grandson, Wyatt; two brothers, John Parker Heathscott (Kay) of Searcy and Roger Heathscott (Dorothy) of Bald Knob; two sisters, Judy Johnston (Von) of West Point and Shirley Waire of Cabot; as well as many friends.
     Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at Kensett First Baptist Church. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at St. James Catholic Church in Searcy with cremation to follow services.
