James Martin

James Martin, 78, of Searcy, passed away July 26, 2019 at Unity Health in Searcy.  He was born December 9, 1940 at Higginson to the late Robert and Edna Skinner Martin.
     Mr. Martin served in the US Army and was a retired Steel Mill worker.  He loved country music and played the guitar and bass.  He enjoyed watching western movies and television.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior, Jack, Robert, and Russell Martin; two sisters, Shirley Hollingsworth and Lillian Jonda.
     He married Shirley Nikander Martin August 31, 1961 at Searcy; she survives.  He is also survived by two sons, James Dean Martin of Texas and Robert Martin of Judsonia; one daughter, Deborah Goodrich (Michael) of Kokomo, Indiana; three grandchildren, Holly, Jennifer, and Michael Jr.; three great grandchildren; one brother, Johnny Martin (Theresa) of Kensett; two sisters, Lillie Mae Taylor of Higginson and Mary Lee Gaither of Pangburn.
     Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Searcy Faith Cemetery on Hwy. 16
